In the discussion of fashion careers and social media, it's often easy for established people to advise students and young folks to establish themselves in the industry via social media, proffering the digital space as democratic and an easy, quick way to stand out by simply being authentic.
But what might have been a novel and revolutionary space 5 years ago is now highly saturated and is a space that privileges normative bodies and a glossy view of life that most most up and coming young people don't necessarily have access to, or even want to project.
