10 QUESTIONS WITH @LILMIXEDHUNNY

April 5, 2016

In the age of the Internet, it's always cool to see young people excelling in their fields - whether they are a photographer, a digital artist, a model, a poet, or a designer.  But what's even more amazing to us is the plethora of multihyphenate creatives making a name for themselves out there, and New York-based Ceilidh Joy (@lilmixedhunny) is one of them.  Ceilidh documents her life as a vintage fashion buyer on Instagram, also doubling as a model (she recently starred alongside Model of the Year nominee Bella Hadid in a music video for The Weeknd).  Between sharing her enthusiasm for sushi, days on set with Milk Studios and VFiles, and helping start-up brands get off the ground, Ceilidh found the time to answer some of our questions so that we could get to know her better.

How are you? What are you currently working on?

Right now, I am working with a number of designers -- whether it be helping them launch, or being with bigger, more brands and designers.

How do you stay motivated?
I find it hard to stay motivated sometimes. But when I wake up and see everyone rooting for me in such a genuine manner, I feel nothing but pride and happiness. That keeps me motivated to not stay home and watch Rick and Morty all day.

What's the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
See if I actually put my phone in the charger. I probably never do.

What store do you never leave without buying at least one thing?

Does e-Bay count?

Go-to outfit?

Something clean. I tend to spend stupid amounts of money on sweatshirts. So, there I'll be, 200 dollars more broke, and yet here I am in some Cav Empt or something along those lines.

Trend that never dies?

I mean, I think Timbs will never go out of style. Maybe it's a New York thing. Sorry California.

Where do you see the fashion industry headed in 10 years?

It gets crazier and crazier. From $2000 Kanye sweatshirts to futuristic Hood by Air, to the delicacy of Dries [Van Noten], to the elegance of Proenza [Schouler]. I just don't know. Let's hope for something wild though, right? I wanna see people in space suits.

Proudest moment?

Getting a page in Nylon. That was rad. I've had a few proud moments. Seeing my sixth sibling for the first time might be boring to hear, but I liked it.

What advice would you give to your 17 year old self?
Relax, don't be so ignorant, and stop being such a damn teenager.  Haha.
