ALEXANDER WANG WENT 'SURFER GIRL' FOR SPRING 2017

September 12, 2016

Everyone is talking about Alexander Wang right now.  The perennially cool designer sent his Spring 2017 collection down the catwalk on Saturday night, and at the same time dropped a capsule collection with Adidas Originals, which is (probably) already sold out.  The clothes were everything you can expect from the #WangSquad - youthful, sporty, sexy, subversive - but they weren't the only thing we had our eyes on this season.

As Harper's Bazaar reports, 18 supermodels who walked in the show had their hair died platinum blonde backstage.  The beauty team took a perspective influenced by the beach, going for shaggy cuts that were sunbathed and textured from seawater.

When it came to the makeup, NARS artist Diane Kendall carried the theme home. "The beauty inspiration is surfer, beach girl. It's that look and natural color that someone gets if their skin has been kissed by the sun," she said.  Swapping lipstick for a light layer of nude concealer and skipping eye makeup altogether, the effect was a glowy, natural face that revealed the models' character and individuality instead of obscuring it.
