A culmination of flirty florals, sexy satins, and laidback layers, Topshop Unique was giving us all the feels of spending winter at the beach for their A/W17 show. The term 'effortlessly cool' comes to mind when looking at the models strut, hands in pockets, in their cozy layers. However, where there were layers, there was also skin; oversized coats and chunky knits were paired with bare legs, giving off serious Cali Girl vibes, and we don’t blame them – who wouldn’t want to winter on the California coast?
The show transitioned from a daytime palette of deep blues, bright reds, and sunshine yellows, into a vast a vast array of delicate neutrals: dusty pinks, pure whites, and a sprinkling of nude and grey. This delicate turn manifested itself in oh-so-feminine dresses. Satin, frills, spaghetti straps, high slits, and florals set the scene for a sophisticated night of music and fun after a day hanging by the ocean. As always, Topshop Unique gave us a collection oozing the carefree spirit of youth and it did not disappoint.
